Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 11 amโ€“9:30 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Dumplings & Noodles at (713) 636-3802; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Houston is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around Houston is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Texas's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Food tasted fresh. Portions were shareable portions. Went on Memorial Day around 7:30 and there was only one other table and a few folks waiting on pickup orders. Two waitresses. The xialong bao bursted every time they were picked up from the steamer unfortunately so we didn't get the broth experience. Shell too delicate. Shumai were huge, tasted standard. Family liked the mapo tofu. It must've had numbing peppercorns because we definitely felt it. Dandan noodle was ok. Braised pork bun was interesting, it was savory for a change from the traditional bbq pork bun. Pork cabbage spicy sour dumpling was unexpected, served in a bowl of spicy broth. Not sure how i felt about them. If you're in the area, give it a try but don't drive out of your way. You can get these items at other establishments with better service. Service can be improved. I accidently knocked over my full cup of ice water when I was switching the very very hot steamers from xialongbao to pork buns and our waitress who was setting silverware at the table directly across from us completely ignored the accident. My party quickly combined napkins to prevent spillage to the floor but I had to ask for more napkin

5 star experience! Exceptional food. Traveled with family and friends and was looking for Asian food for dinner. Kids loved noodles and bubble tea. Huge portions! Sweetest stuff. Highly recommended!

We ordered a Mongolian beef, which was a bit spicy but incredibly tasty and fresh. The dumplings were also delicious, and the veggie and meat rolls were crunchy and satisfying. The portion sizes are generous, and we easily divided the three choices between two people.

Stopped by for takeout, as this restaurant is a few minutes walk from my hotel. Very glad I did. The shenzen baos were amazing, and the water boiled dumplings were also very good. Staff is very friendly, and the food was ready within minutes of ordering. Price was okay as well. Definitely recommended!

The food here is incredible. We ordered a few different type of dumplings and they were all incredible. The soup dumplings were divine. Some how these soft scrumptious pillows were the best pork buns ive probably ever had. The spicy sour dumplings made a good soup ๐Ÿ‘Œ end to the night. Highly recommend and will be back.
